As per a news source, the late filing fee which currently is Rs. 50 for regular and Rs. 20 for nil returns will increase to Rs. 100 from April 2018.
If news is to be believed, GSTN demands that tax payers should start filing returns on time to avoid late filing fee.
Earlier in GST council meeting the late filing was reduced due to demand from tax payers and different associations.
It is possible that late filing fee may be increased since it was not amendment in law but fee was reduced with notification for limited time.
